Kilgraney staircase from used Jarrah railway sleepers

These steps were made from a mixture of untreated reclaimed Azobe railway sleepers (The treads of the staircase), used untreated Jarrah railway sleepers (The side frame of the staircase), and new untreated oak railway sleepers (The bannister post and rail). Very heavy and long lasting, with no tar or creosote to get on people's feet or hands.

The great thing about using old railway sleepers is that you've created something that genuinely looks like it is decades if not centuries old (with the exception of the new bannister). Timeless.
