Thanks to all of you who spot railway sleeper projects and send pictures of them to us for our projects library. Concreting vertical steel RSJ's into the ground like fence posts, and then sliding in new or used railway sleepers, is a simple, strong and long lasting way of creating a retaining wall. You'll find much tried examples of this in most farms in the countryside whether for silage bays, muck heaps or the sturdy walls of pole barns and cattle sheds.
